Residential Demolition – Eastwood, NSW 2122
The northern suburb of Eastwood is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets. Located 17 kilometres, or roughly half an hours train ride, from the CBD, Eastwood is surprisingly central.
Although it might look like another sleepy suburban haven, Eastwood actually boasts a bustling night life featuring markets, food stalls and late-night cafes. Diverse both culturally and in terms of the age of its residents (who range from young students, to families, to older residents) Eastwood is very much a melting pot.
Like the people, the houses in Eastwood are a also a diverse mix, ranging from apartments, to small homes above retail stores, to large family homes on generous blocks of land. The suburb is home to a lot of brick homes, particularly those in a bold art-deco style. Although new development is now occurring more commonly, in the past most home owners in Eastwood preferred to renovate rather then rebuild.
This four bedroom Eastwood home featured an eye-catching slate tile roof and was located on a generously sized block. After gracing the street with its presence for over 100 years, it was sadly time to knock it down in order to make way for something new. Due to the large block size and location on the corner of the street, the property could be subdivided to make way for two new family homes where there was previously only one.
